Black Caviar, a turf icon and arguably one of the best horses to ever race, is set to run his last Sydney race tomorrow as Branding by Air takes to the Sydney skies for two hours in what they describe as “one of the world’s largest aerial banners” as part of a joint marketing campaign.

The 800 square metre banner celebrating the career of Black Caviar will begin its journey at Sydney’s at Terrey Hills on Sydney’s northern beaches at 1pm, and will take in the harbor and Opera House, completing its final furlong along Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Black Caviar will be racing tomorrow in the Darley T.J. Smith Stakes (5.10pm) as part of the BMW Sydney Carnivalat Royal Randwick, having won the same race in 2011.

Our Managing Director, Duncan McIntyre, is very proud to be involved in saluting such an Australian cultural icon.

“We have been instrumental in some of Australia’s most memorable marketing campaigns of the last few years, including NAB’s ‘Break Up’ campaign, DMG’s NOVA campaign and Jeep’s sponsorship leverage program,” he said.

“Saying farewell to the greatest thoroughbred in the world is another unforgettable event for the people of Sydney. What better way to commemorate the event than allowing everybody to look to the skies and celebrate together.”

The Australian Turf Club’s marketing manager Debbie Morton said Saturday’s race was more than a sporting event; it was a part of the cultural fabric of the city.

“Australian’s from all walks of life love their racing, and there are no bigger name in the game than Black Caviar

“We wanted to create something special to mark the occasion and an aerial tribute for all to enjoy seemed fitting to this momentous occasion,” she added.

Branded in Jeep logos and colours, a Branding By Air skydiver gave the sold-out crowd front seat action via a downlink camera fitted to the jumper’s helmet. From live screens dotted around the venue the polo punters watched the skydiver jump from a plane and hand deliver the polo match ball.
